Wine & Cellars
The independent winegrowers practical guide defines wine tourism as "all tourism and leisure activities in relation with discovery of wine, the vineyard and the vintner, but also the culture and heritage surrounding wine and its production. "Vignobles & Découvertes" certification label is precisely oriented towards this description. Our cellars are also certified Caves touristiques du Vignoble de Loire®
Interloire, which is the Loire Valley Wine professionnals association, is in charge of this certification with regional tourism institutions and vineyards of the Loire Valley. 330 wineries have committed themselves to ensuring a quality service, easy access, regular opening hours, guided tours, free tastings in appropriate surroundings, and sales to the public.
Some vintners and wineries offer visits around the vineyards and cellars, or combine wine tasting with local products
The originality of our wine is based on soil's wealth and grape varieties used. You can find 5 Protected Designation of Origin areas, which are Chinon, Bourgueil, Saint-Nicolas-de-Bourgueil, Touraine Azay-le-Rideau and Touraine Noble Joué. Whether red, rosé or white, our wines have freshness and strong character in common.
